Back to School Again! by Delina Hill-Brooker

*Grinch grin*  Wednesday is the first day of school. Seems like only me and our five year old are excited though…but for different reasons. Her reasons: A new school, bus rides, big girl Kindergarten, and she lost her first tooth this weekend which REALLY makes her a big girl. And the icing on top of the cake, she’s now a cheerleader, and that just started too.

My reasons: The tiny humans will be out of the house. Peace and quiet! ~ Momentarily anyway. Regular bedtimes, regulated television and video game time. To sum it up in one word – STRUCTURE!

Our middle son isn’t so excited. He’s become addicted to TV and video games and has mastered staying up very late and sleeping a long time. The only plus side to him is to see his friends, his birthday at the end of the week and it’s football season. He’s been waiting for football season to start since it ended last year.

Every year my husband tells me that football is the way to go, I have yet to see that happen. I swear this kid is bionic! But he loves it and that’s all that matters right?

Our oldest son is having mixed feelings. He was visiting, traveling and furthering his education for the majority of the summer, and now he is entering his senior year. It’s bittersweet for him. Me too actually, but I couldn’t be more proud of the young man that he is becoming.

I’ve enjoyed the not so structured pace of the summer, but they need to go back to school, better yet I NEED them to go back to school. We’ve played all the games, flipped all the flips, ridden all the bikes, watched all of the kiddie shows. I’m sure I’ll be ready for a break from school soon too, but until then…THEIR BOOK BAGS ARE PACKED AND AT THE DOOR! Lol
